Sideburns: “no”?
Posted in Life on Wednesday, January 11th, 2006What is the deal with men who have no sideburns? I mean none, zero, the kind that are shaved up even with the top of his ears? I just want to know, what is up with that? I even asked this guy I know (my husband) how it was that he used to get his hair cut like that; he simply answered that when his barber would ask him how he wanted or if he wanted his sideburns he just answered; “no.” Weird. I am glad to inform you that as of today he has a great looking hair cut (buzzed, but including sideburns). So basically the message I want to get accross here is that men should never have no s-burns. Thanks, now get them sides’a'growin.

Sometimes sideburn can protect you from junk noises. No?
Side burns are ugly. I have really long hair.. well not REALLY REALLY long hair. Just down to my cheeks in the front and shoulders in the back. Sideburns just look ugly to me personally. Also, loved the dont yawn game.
sideburns beard i have all of it but is it really a personal prefrence or something to attract a mate
It’s true Bastien, sideburns provide a number of conveniences!
Matt, I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the yawngame, but not about the sideburns. Hear me out one more time…I’m not saying you need Elvis-burns, just something to come down by your ear, that’s all I’m asking. Can we agree?
And Jon, all my comments are the truth, it has nothing to do with preference OR attracting a mate. I’m married, what do I care?
I tend to agree with Jon… It really is a personal preference and also depends on the shape of the man’s face… And it is also trendy, sideburns come and go… You just have to live long enough and you’ll see… :-)
Gotta have sideburns!
amen Mike.
I tend to be a complete side-burn fanatic, and I can’t and won’t live without them, EVER! The bigger they are, the better. No such thing as “too big”. Now I’m sporting “Quint” chops, Robert Shaw’s chop of choice in “Jaws”. I have also noticed that as long as they are well-trimmed and not all over the place, people are way less offended by them. Then again I don’t care what they think anyway. I just don’t like looking like Grizzly Adams. Too bad that awesome site “badburns.com” is no longer on the net. I support all men sporting side-burns of any shape and size, as long as they have atleast SOME.
Why judge what a man wants to grow on his face? Why do people judge anyone in general over appearances -answer: to make up for their own lack of self-worth/insecurities. Maybe you should think about growing your own sideburns or even a mustache, instead of fretting over such silly things.
Umm…ah..
..mm..

I don\’t like sideburns personally. i think they look like big flat cattapillars growing on peoples faces. i don\’t really like facial hair in general..specially those small strips of beards. But a little bit of scrufft stubble can look pretty sexy.
Men tend to get grey on their faces before their hair, so therefor they get grey sideburns before their hair goes grey. So, to keep looking young, they shave them off (for as long as possible, before it all goes grey)
I wish I did have some, but at 27 I still don\’t seem to grow any hair there at all!

Oh please, bring back the sideburn! I think it looks really weird without them. Good (well, BAD) example: Nicholas Cage. Yeesh.
